On a recent Dogcation in the Belfast/Camden/Rockland area, my husband and I visited the Belfast Dog Park with our yellow lab Ross and newfie mix Theo. I had wanted to go since I wrote about the park for Downeast Dog News before they opened last summer. What a beautiful, friendly, fun place. In just 2 days, we visited 3 times. Thirteen-year-old Ross displayed his talent for retrieving to a sweet black lab pup, while Theo romped and chased a number of new-found pals. I fell in love with a great dane named Suki. And my husband and I enjoyed talking to fellow canine parents; we even met three other people who had moved to Maine from New Jersey and laughed about how we missed "real" bagels and pizza. I would love to have a dog park in Ellsworth (where I live); perhaps I can motivate some other dog parents to approach city hall. Bravo and congrats on a job well done to the Friends of Belfast Parks.
